02 · WEIGHT AND GEOMETRY
A four-wheel figure skating frame carries more components than a three-wheel frame.
That additional wheel is not there to make the frame longer or heavier. It creates the third balance zone.

2 BALANCE ZONESThe center wheel is a pivot. The skater moves between the front and rear balance zones.

3 BALANCE ZONESThe two center wheels create the stable center skating zone that a three-wheel frame cannot provide.

The additional wheel adds weight. It also changes the geometry.

For EDGE, that is the trade-off: more components in exchange for the geometry required to reproduce the three balance zones of an ice blade.
