Mark two center points beneath the boot before positioning the frame.

Drill carefully

Mark the first holes, remove the frame and drill slowly while keeping the drill vertical.

Test before completing

Test the lateral position before installing the remaining mounting screws.

What you need

  • ONE Blades EDGE frames
  • Compatible figure skating boots
  • Suitable mounting screws
  • A ruler or measuring tool
  • A fine marker or center punch
  • A drill and suitable drill bit
  • A screwdriver or low-torque drill setting
Confirm the drill size first.

The video uses a 2.5 mm drill bit for the boots shown. Boot construction and mounting hardware vary.

Find the center of the boot

Measure across the sole near the front and near the heel. Mark the midpoint at both positions.

These two points establish the center line used to align the frame.

Do not copy the exact measurements shown in the video. The correct measurements depend on the width and shape of your own boot.

Align the frame

Position the front of the frame flush with the front of the boot sole.

The frame should not extend beyond the front edge of the sole.

Align the center of the frame with the two center marks before marking any mounting holes.

Mark the first mounting holes

Hold the frame securely and mark the center of the first front and rear mounting holes.

A small pilot mark helps prevent the drill bit from moving away from the intended position.

Drill carefully

Remove the frame before drilling.

Keep the drill vertical, work slowly and avoid drilling deeper than required.

Incorrect drilling can permanently damage the boot.

Stop and use an experienced skate technician when you are uncertain.

Install the initial screws

Begin with the initial front and rear mounting positions.

Start each screw carefully and keep it straight.

Use a screwdriver or a low-torque drill setting. Do not install the screws using the unrestricted drill setting.

Test before completing the mounting

Fit the wheels and picks, then test the skates in a controlled environment.

The slotted mounting positions provide limited lateral adjustment.

Install the remaining mounting screws only after the frame position has been tested and confirmed.

FIRST ASSEMBLY

How to install your pick, wheels and rocker axles

Assemble the front pick, position the wheels, insert the rocker axles and check every connection before skating.

BEFORE YOU SKATE

Check every rocker axle and frame connection.

The wheels should rotate freely, the pick should not turn and all hardware should be secure before the skates are used.

Install the pick

Screw the pick fully into position, then tighten it until it cannot rotate.

Align the wheels

Loosen the frame slightly and align each wheel with the rocker axle openings.

03

Insert the rocker axles

Insert each rocker axle from the larger opening and secure it from the opposite side.

04

Complete the checks

Retighten the frame and confirm the intended rocker axle positions before skating.

Install the pick

Line the pick up with the threaded opening at the front of the frame.

Turn it by hand until it is fully inserted. Use the EDGE tool to tighten it.

Check the pick by hand. It should remain secure and should not rotate.

Loosen the frame before inserting the wheels

Loosen the frame hardware shown in the video before attempting to insert the wheels.

Tightening this hardware pulls the frame sides together. Leaving it tight can make wheel installation unnecessarily difficult.

Understand the two sides

Each wheel position has a larger opening on one side and a smaller opening on the other.

The rocker axle enters through the larger opening. The retaining screw is fitted from the smaller side.

Align the wheels

Position yourself above the frame so you can look directly through the rocker axle openings.

Align each wheel bearing with both sides of the frame before inserting the rocker axle.

Do not force the rocker axle. Recheck the wheel alignment when it does not slide into position cleanly.

Choose the rocker axle positions

Every rocker axle can be installed in either orientation, changing the height of that wheel.

The video demonstrates Adam's rear-biased setup, with the front three wheels in the lower position and the rear wheel raised.

This is one setup, not a universal requirement.

Choose the rocker axle arrangement that suits your skating and experience. More setup guidance will be added to the rocker axle section.

Secure each rocker axle

Hold the rocker axle in position with your thumb while threading the retaining screw from the opposite side.

Begin by hand whenever possible. This helps prevent cross-threading and keeps the hardware aligned.

Complete the tightening with the EDGE tool.

Retighten the frame

Retighten the frame hardware that was loosened before installing the wheels.

This step is easy to overlook. Loose hardware may create noise or movement while skating.

Complete the final check

  • The pick is secure and cannot rotate.
  • Every rocker axle is in the intended orientation.
  • Every retaining screw is secure.
  • The frame hardware has been retightened.
  • Every wheel rotates freely.
  • No wheel or hardware moves from side to side.

Once the frames have been mounted and their position has been confirmed, the next step is to install the pick, wheels and rocker axles.

Put the retaining screw on the inside

With the screw facing inward, you can place the skate across your knee and reach it more easily while wearing the boot.

Put the rocker axle logo on the inside

The logo shows the rocker axle orientation. Facing it inward makes the position easier to see while making an adjustment.

Retaining screw orientation

Install each rocker axle so the smaller retaining screw faces the inside of the skate.

This gives you a clearer route to the screw when the skate is placed across your opposite knee.

Rocker axle logo orientation

Install the rocker axle so the ONE logo faces the inside of the skate.

The logo helps you identify the rocker axle position. Facing it inward makes it easier to inspect and adjust without removing the skate.

This does not change how the rocker axle functions.

It simply places the visible and adjustable sides where they are easier to reach while wearing the skates.

Do not skate when the pick, frame hardware or any rocker axle is loose.

Hold the pick and try to rotate it by hand.

It should remain secure and should not turn inside the frame.

Tighten it with the EDGE tool before skating when any movement is present.

Check the front frame hardware

Check the frame hardware beside the pick on both sides.

Confirm that both sides are secure and that the front of the frame does not move.

Check every rocker axle

Work along the frame and confirm that each rocker axle and retaining screw is secure.

Rocker axle hardware should not move, rattle or sit loose inside the frame.

Confirm the rocker axle positions

Visually inspect each rocker axle and confirm that it remains in the intended orientation.

Use the rocker axle arrangement you have chosen.

The arrangement shown in the video is one personal setup, not a requirement for every skater.

Check both skates

Repeat the same inspection on the second skate.

  • Both picks are secure.
  • Front frame hardware is secure on both sides.
  • Every rocker axle is tight.
  • Every retaining screw is tight.
  • Both skates use the intended rocker axle arrangement.
Stop when something feels loose.

Do not rely on the previous session. Check the hardware again before skating.

ADJUSTMENT

How to adjust your pick

Find a position that lets you spin and jump without catching the pick during deep edges, turns or crossovers.

Loosen, adjust, tighten and test.

Everybody skates differently, so the correct position will be different for every skater.

Loosen the pick

Use the EDGE tool to loosen the front connection.

Only loosen it enough to allow the pick to move.

Adjust the position

Rotate the pick to the position you would like to test.

Make small adjustments rather than large ones.

Retighten the pick

Tighten the pick securely before skating.

Hold it by hand and confirm that it cannot rotate.

Repeat if necessary

Continue making small adjustments until you find the position that works best for you.

Everybody skates differently.

The correct position depends on your technique, your boots and your personal preference.

Do not skate if the pick can rotate inside the frame.

How to test the height of your pick

The goal is to find the lowest position that feels comfortable without catching during normal skating.

Understand your rocker axles

Learn what rocker axles do, how to adjust them and how each configuration changes the way EDGE feels beneath your feet.

WHAT A ROCKER AXLE DOES

Each rocker axle moves one wheel between two vertical positions.

Changing the position of individual wheels changes the rocker, stability and movement of the frame.

Flat setup

Maximum stability with a neutral inline feel.

Regular rocker

Balanced control for general figure skating.

Large rocker

Greater movement and faster turns.

Greater freedom at the rear of the frame.

What is a rocker axle?

A rocker axle holds a wheel inside the frame while allowing that wheel to sit in one of two vertical positions.

Rotating the rocker axle changes whether the wheel sits higher or lower.

EDGE uses a rocker axle on every wheel, allowing each wheel position to be adjusted independently.

Read the logo and arrow

Each rocker axle carries the ONE logo and an arrow.

The arrow shows the orientation of the rocker axle so you can identify whether that wheel is in its raised or lowered position.

Installing the logo on the inside of the frame makes the position easier to inspect while wearing the skates.

Loosen the front frame hardware first

Before removing or rotating the front rocker axle, loosen the front frame hardware shown in the video.

This reduces pressure between the frame sides and makes the front rocker axle easier to remove and reinstall.

Retighten this hardware before skating.

It is easy to focus on the rocker axles and forget the front connection.

Remove and rotate a rocker axle

Loosen and remove the retaining screw from the inside of the frame.

Pull the rocker axle out through the larger opening.

Rotate it into the opposite orientation and insert it again.

Gently move the wheel when the rocker axle does not line up immediately. Do not force it through the bearing.

Flat setup

The front and rear wheels use one position while the two center wheels use the opposite position.

This places all four wheels on the surface together and removes the rocker.

It offers the greatest stability but has less movement than the rocker configurations.

Regular rocker

The two outside wheels sit higher than the two center wheels.

This creates a balanced rocker with movement at both the front and rear of the frame.

It is a useful starting configuration for general figure skating.

Large rocker

The front and rear wheels are raised farther in relation to the two center wheels.

This creates greater movement and quicker turning.

The pick may contact the surface sooner.

With more movement at the front, deep forward pressure can bring the pick into contact earlier than expected.

Rear bias rocker

The rear wheel is raised relative to the front three wheels.

This creates greater freedom at the back of the frame while keeping more stability through the front and center.

Adam uses this as his personal setup because he prefers the additional movement for backward turns.

This is a personal preference.

It is not the required setup for every skater.

Forward bias rocker

The front wheel is raised relative to the rear three wheels.

This creates greater freedom at the front of the frame and a slightly forward-pitched feel.

Test this configuration carefully and compare it with the regular and rear bias setups.

Choose a starting setup

Begin with the configuration that best matches your current confidence and skating goals.

  • Flat setup for maximum stability.
  • Regular rocker for balanced figure skating control.
  • Rear bias rocker when you want more movement at the back.

Skate for long enough to understand one configuration before changing several rocker axles again.

Complete the final checks

  • Every rocker axle is in the intended orientation.
  • Every retaining screw is secure.
  • The front frame hardware has been retightened.
  • Every wheel rotates freely.
  • No hardware moves or rattles.

THE RIGHT SETUP

The best configuration is the one that supports your skating.

There is no single rocker axle configuration that every skater must use. Test each setup carefully and keep the one that gives you the balance of stability and movement you prefer.

MAINTENANCE

After-skate maintenance

Remove dust, dirt and trapped hair after skating so your EDGE system stays clean and every wheel continues to rotate freely.

AFTER EVERY SESSION

Check the frames and wheels before putting your skates away.

Outdoor skating creates more dust and dirt. Indoor skating can still leave hair and debris around the wheels and rocker axles.

Wipe the frames

Remove visible dust and dirt with a clean cloth.

Inspect the wheels

Look for hair or debris trapped around the wheel and rocker axle.

Remove trapped debris

Take the wheel off when hair or dirt cannot be removed safely in place.

Clean more deeply when needed

Remove the wheels and pick after unusually dirty or wet skating.

Inspect the system after skating

Look over both frames before storing your skates.

Check for dust, dirt, hair and other debris around the wheels, rocker axles and pick.

Wipe the frames clean

Use a clean cloth to remove visible dust and surface dirt.

Outdoor skating will usually require more cleaning than indoor skating.

Keep a cloth in your skate bag.

A quick wipe after each session prevents dirt from building up between sessions.

Check around every wheel

Hair and debris can collect around the wheels even when you skate indoors.

Rotate each wheel and inspect both sides for anything wrapped around the rocker axle or bearing area.

Remove a wheel when necessary

When debris cannot be removed while the wheel is installed, undo the retaining screw and remove the rocker axle.

Take the wheel out and remove the trapped hair or dirt.

Reinstall the wheel using the same rocker axle orientation, then tighten the hardware securely.

Clean thoroughly after mud or water

EDGE is designed for smooth skating surfaces. Avoid mud, standing water and heavily contaminated surfaces.

When the system does become unusually dirty or wet, remove the wheels and pick before cleaning the frame thoroughly.

Dry every part before reassembly and storage.

Do not put the system away while dirt or moisture remains around the hardware.

Clean dirty wheels

Remove the wheels from the frame before cleaning them.

Remove the bearings before washing the wheel material with soapy water.

Dry the wheels completely before reinstalling the bearings.

Reassemble and check everything

  • The pick is secure and cannot rotate.
  • Every wheel rotates freely.
  • Every rocker axle is in the intended orientation.
  • Every retaining screw is secure.
  • The front frame hardware has been retightened.
  • No dirt, hair or moisture remains around the system.

How to change your bearings

Remove, clean or replace your bearings while keeping the internal spacer correctly aligned.

Keep the internal spacer flat and centered.

Check the spacer before pressing the second bearing into the wheel. Poor alignment can stop the assembly seating correctly.

Remove the first bearing

Insert the tool and rotate gently until the bearing releases.

02

Remove the second bearing

Turn the wheel over and repeat from the opposite side.

03

Check the spacer

Make sure the spacer remains flat and centered inside the wheel.

Reinstall both bearings

Press each bearing fully into place and check the wheel.

Remove the wheel

Remove the rocker axle and take the wheel out of the frame.

Keep the rocker axle and retaining screw together so they are not misplaced.

02

Remove the first bearing

Insert the end of the EDGE tool into the center of the bearing.

Apply gentle sideways pressure while rotating the tool until the bearing releases from the wheel.

Do not force the bearing out.

Gentle rotation and controlled pressure are enough.

03

Remove the second bearing

Turn the wheel over and repeat the same process on the opposite side.

Once both bearings are removed, the internal spacer will be accessible inside the wheel.

04

Clean or replace the bearings

Remove any visible hair, dust or debris before reinstalling the bearings.

Replace the bearings when they are damaged, heavily worn or no longer rotating smoothly.

05

Install the first bearing

Position the first bearing squarely against the wheel opening.

Press it evenly into place until it is fully seated.

06

Align the spacer

Look through the center of the wheel and check that the spacer is lying flat.

The opening through the spacer should line up with the center of both bearings.

Check this before installing the second bearing.

A tilted spacer can make reassembly difficult and prevent the rocker axle from passing through cleanly.

Install the second bearing

Turn the wheel over and press the second bearing into place.

Confirm that both bearings sit evenly inside the wheel.

Reinstall the wheel

Place the wheel back into the frame and align the bearings with both rocker axle openings.

Insert the rocker axle in the intended orientation and secure the retaining screw.

09

Complete the final check

  • Both bearings are fully seated.
  • The spacer is centered and flat.
  • The rocker axle passes through cleanly.
  • The retaining screw is secure.
  • The wheel rotates freely.
  • There is no unusual movement or noise.
