QUICK ANSWER

Learning does not stop when the lesson ends.

Beyond the Rink connects lessons, progress, community and personal help in one learning environment.

You don't need to own ONE Blades EDGE to join.

You don't need to be an advanced skater.

And you don't need to know exactly where you fit before you start.

Beyond the Rink exists to give skaters somewhere to go after the question, the guide or the equipment.

01
A place to learn.

Continue through ONE Academy.

02
A place to practice with direction.

Know what to work on next.

03
A place to ask for help.

Get help when you need it.

01 · WHY IT EXISTS

Learning needs somewhere to continue.

Learning to skate rarely happens from one lesson, one video or one piece of equipment.

  1. 01
    You learn something.

    You practice it.

  2. 02
    Something works.

    Something doesn't.

  3. 03
    You have another question.

Then you need to know what to work on next.

ONE Blades contains the open public knowledge: Guides, Answers, setup information and the public ONE Academy resources.

Beyond the Rink takes that knowledge and puts it inside a learning and community environment.

Instead of finding one lesson and disappearing, you can continue.

Beyond the Rink is free to join.

You do not need to purchase EDGE to create an account.

Once you're inside, you can use the learning and community areas available to you from the same place.

02 · LEARN TO SKATE

Start with a progression.

If you're new to inline figure skating, start with Learn to Skate.

01

10 levels

A progression through the foundations of inline figure skating.

02

49 lessons

Beginning with your first skating position.

You don't have to decide what random element to learn next.

There is a progression to follow.

Inside Beyond the Rink, you can work through the course and keep track of what you have completed.

If you're already an experienced skater, you don't necessarily need to begin at the first lesson.

Use the progression to find the level that matches where your skating is now.

03 · ONE ACADEMY

Go deeper when you're ready.

Learn to Skate gives you the progression.

ONE Academy lets you go deeper.

As your skating develops, you can work on specific areas including:

01

Jumps

Takeoff, timing, rotation, landing and progression.

02

Spins

Entries, positions, balance and rotation.

03

Turns and Loops

Edge control, body position, wheel position and timing.

04

Off Skates

Technique, movement, jump preparation, strength and fitness away from your skates.

You don't have to consume everything.

Use the Academy for the part of your skating you're actually working on.

04 · PROGRESS

Know what you've done.
Know what comes next.

One reason to learn inside Beyond the Rink rather than opening individual lessons at random is continuity.

You can see what you've completed and continue through your learning rather than trying to remember where you stopped.

That becomes more useful as the number of lessons grows.

Your skating doesn't need more information for the sake of information.

It needs a clear next step.

01

Track progress

See what you've completed and continue through your learning.

02

Community chat

Sometimes you don't need another guide. You need to ask a question.

03

Share progress

Beyond the Rink gives skaters a community space to talk about skating, share what they're working on and ask for help.

04

Ask questions

Ask about something you're learning, a problem in practice, equipment or setup, finding somewhere to skate, an Academy lesson or what to work on next.

You can also share your progress.

Skating can be an individual activity without needing to become an isolated one.

05 · ASK ADAM

Sometimes you just need to ask.

Beyond the Rink also gives you a direct route to Adam.

That matters because sometimes the problem isn't that the information doesn't exist.

You simply don't know which information applies to you.

If you're stuck, unsure where to begin or don't know what resource to use next, ask.

Tell Adam where you are with your skating and he can help point you toward an appropriate place to begin.

06 · PERSONAL HELP

Choose the help that fits the problem.

A lesson can show you what to do.

It cannot see what you are doing.

That's where personal feedback becomes useful.

01

Coach Feedback

Best when: You already have a recording and want Adam to review what you're doing.

Record your inline figure skating and submit it through Coach Feedback.

Send one video up to 60 seconds, covering one inline figure skating element or one specific question. Receive private video, audio and written feedback within 24 hours.

$10 USD or 10 existing ONE Credits for one review. Multiple camera angles of the same element can be combined into one video, up to 60 seconds total. Separate elements and unlimited follow-up messages are not included.

02

Live Coaching

Best when: You want to work together and make adjustments in real time.

Sometimes you need more than a recorded response.

Live Coaching lets you work directly with Adam during an online lesson.

Your lesson takes place through Google Meet.

That means you can skate in your own suitable space while receiving live instruction rather than needing to be in the same rink or even the same country as your coach.

Use Live Coaching when interaction in the moment is more useful than sending a recording.

Use Coach Feedback when you want Adam to review something you've already filmed.

They solve different problems.

The important part comes afterward.
Take the feedback back into your next practice. The goal isn't collecting feedback. It's knowing what to work on next.

07 · ONE CREDIT

Learning and support can connect.

ONE Credit is store credit within ONE.

It can also be used for Coach Feedback and eligible coaching services.

That creates a connection between the equipment and the learning around it.

But you do not need ONE Credit simply to join Beyond the Rink and start learning.

The community and learning environment come first.

Paid personal help is there when you want it.

08 · TWO PARTS OF ONE

Open knowledge.
Ongoing learning.

You don't have to choose one and ignore the other.

They have different jobs.

02

Live Coaching

The knowledge connects the two.

ONE Blades is where the public knowledge lives.
Beyond the Rink is where you can turn that knowledge into an ongoing learning experience.

09 · WHERE TO START

Start from where you are.

  1. 01
    Completely new

Start with How to Start Inline Figure Skating. That guide takes you through equipment, sizing, surfaces, setup, safety and your first session. Then create your free Beyond the Rink account and begin Learn to Skate.

  2. 02
    Already skating

Go into ONE Academy and find the area you're working on. Use Learn to Skate if you want to check your foundations or find where you fit in the progression.

  3. 03
    Not sure

Use Find Your Starting Point. Adam can help point you in the right direction.

  4. 04
    Stuck on something

Ask the community or Adam. Search ONE Answers. Or find the relevant Guide or Academy lesson.

  5. 05
    Want personal feedback

    Use Coach Feedback.

  6. 06
    Want to work live

    Book Live Coaching.

KEEP LEARNING

You don't have to work it all out alone.

Figure skating takes time.

There will always be another element to learn, another question to answer and another part of your skating to understand.

Beyond the Rink gives that process somewhere to live.

  1. 01
    Learn.

  2. 02
    Practice.

  3. 03
    Keep track of your progress.

  4. 04
    Ask questions.

  5. 05
Get help when you need it.

  6. 06
    Then go skate again.

CONTINUE LEARNING

Keep exploring the system.
